This has been a very busy month of planning, development and micro adventures. But first, a big announcement….

• I’m shortly to embark on my most epic adventure ever - Te Araroa - a four month thru hike of New Zealand.

Te Araroa - New Zealand’s Trail

I’m shortly to embark on my most epic adventure ever!

In Spring 2023 I will be embarking on my most ambitious adventure yet, Te Araroa - New Zealand’s Trail. A continuous 3,000 kilometre (1,864 mile) walking track from Cape Reinga at the top of the North island all the way south to Bluff at the bottom of the South island in New Zealand.

This is a massive challenge and I anticipate it will take around 110 to 130 days, averaging around twenty five kilometres a day… every day!

By comparison, the longest hike I’ve done up until now was in Fiordland on the Routeburn and Greenstone Tracks and that trip took five days and was about one hundred and five kilometres. This is a massive step up from that walk and one I’m hugely excited about.

YouTube: Busting Camping Myths

I am often asked if I get scared camping alone, am I scared of wild animals, reptiles or worse while I’m camping. Fortunately in New Zealand, there are no predators, it is a paradise for camping. My biggest concern is usually the weather as it can be fairly wild at times and often with rain and wind.

My Viral Reel With 991,948 Views

My viral Instagram Reel SOLO camp in the rain has now been viewed almost a million times!

It’s also had 38,000 likes and well over 800 comments and I’ve loved responding to every single one of them though Google Translate came in handy many times.

One theme which came up again and again was a fear of wild animals which reminds me of just how privileged I am to live in predator free New Zealand.

My TikTok and Twitter Channels are in their infancy as I figure out how best to add value to the conversation.
