Even in winter, everything is alive.
Matariki has passed, and with it comes a quiet shift. The longest night is behind us, the light is slowly returning, and nature is reminding us that this is a time to move forward with intention.
This is your invitation to answer that call.
Join me for a small, hosted walk in nature, held among the ancient forests and cascading waterfalls of Lake Ōkataina, near Rotorua.
A day to step out of the noise, breathe winter air, and come back to yourself: intentionally, and in good company.
The experience
We will spend the day walking the trails around Lake Ōkataina, one of the Rotorua district's most beautiful and least visited lakes, deep in native forest and far from the crowds.
This is a place of quiet magic. Ancient trees draped in moss, hidden waterfalls threading between roots and rock, and the trail rewards you with a view of Lake Rotongata, known as Mirror Lake, a hidden gem that has a way of reflecting more than just the sky.
In the spirit of the season, as the light slowly returns after Matariki, I will offer a few gentle prompts along the way. Nothing heavy or forced. Simply an opportunity to use this moment in the year to gain some clarity on where you are, and where you want to go.
There will be time for quiet reflection, as well as natural, meaningful connection with others in the group.
You will leave with a sense of lightness, perspective, and renewed direction.

A note from me
July is the month most people just try to get through.
Head down, waiting for spring, enduring the cold. But I have walked these trails and I know what is out here. Waterfalls you would never find unless someone showed you. A hidden lake that stops you in your tracks. A forest so alive with moss and fungi and birdsong that winter starts to feel less like something to survive and more like something to savour.
That is what this day is. A reminder that even now, in the depths of it, everything is still growing.
Come and see for yourself.
Sharon 💚
