Accommodation Options
During the trek to Everest Base Camp, you’ll stay in tea houses or lodges along the trail. These provide basic but comfortable facilities, a place to rest, sleep, and enjoy hearty meals after a day of trekking.
Rooms typically have twin beds or dormitory-style arrangements, with essential amenities such as blankets and pillows. Most teahouses have shared bathrooms, while some higher-end lodges offer private facilities.
As you ascend into higher altitudes, facilities become more basic and rustic, adding to the adventure and authentic Himalayan experience. We highly recommend bringing a warm sleeping bag for extra comfort during chilly nights at high elevations.
Overall, accommodation on the Everest Base Camp trek is simple, cosy, and welcoming. Each stop is a chance to connect with local Sherpa hospitality, share stories with fellow trekkers, and soak in the magic of the mountains. The comfort level can vary depending on the lodge, but the warmth of the people and the view more than make up for any rustic charm.

Food and Drinking Water
Similar to the accommodation, the food options you will get along the Mount Everest Base Camp Route are basic and simple. Along the Mount Everest Base Camp trek, you will find a range of foods, from traditional Nepali meals to some international cuisine.

We also recommend that you bring some extra snacks for yourself that you can have in between the walks.
As for drinking water, tap water is easily accessible throughout the route. However, as it is not safe for direct consumption, it's important to treat water from local sources to ensure its safety. You can use water purification tablets or filters to make tap water safe for drinking.

Lukla Flight Delays and Cancellations
What You Need to Know
Your Everest Base Camp adventure begins with the iconic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla’s Tenzing-Hillary Airport, a small airstrip nestled among towering Himalayan peaks. Due to its unique location and high altitude, flights to Lukla are sometimes delayed or even cancelled.
Weather conditions in the Himalayas can change rapidly, making visibility unpredictable. For safety, airlines will delay or return flights to Kathmandu if conditions aren’t suitable for landing. Flight delays can occur at any time of year, but they are more frequent during the monsoon season (late May to early September).
If your flight is delayed, you’ll simply wait until it can be safely rescheduled. In the rare event of a cancellation, you can either wait a few days for the next flight or opt for a same-day helicopter transfer, ensuring your trek stays on track.
We’re experienced in handling these situations smoothly, so you can focus on the adventure ahead, not the logistics.

Everest Base Camp Trek Tips
With years of experience guiding trekkers to Everest Base Camp, we know the insider tips to make your journey safe, comfortable, and unforgettable.
Here are our essential tips to help you plan a smooth and memorable Everest adventure:
Choose the best season: Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) offer clear skies, stunning mountain views, and the best trekking conditions.
Walk at your own pace: The trail can be challenging. Listen to your body and inform your guide if you feel unwell—altitude acclimatisation is key.
Pack wisely: Bring warm layers, rain gear, sturdy boots, and sun protection. Weather in the high Himalayas can change quickly.
Train before trekking: While the trail is non-technical, cardio, hiking, and strength exercises will make your trek easier and more enjoyable.
Drink safe water: Carry a refillable bottle and use purification tablets or filters, as tap water isn’t always safe.
Know the route: Familiarise yourself with key stops like Namche Bazaar and Tengboche. Even though we handle all logistics, a little preparation ensures a smoother journey.
Stay connected: Network and Wi-Fi are limited in the mountains. Buying a local SIM card in Kathmandu helps you stay in touch.
Carry cash: ATMs are rare along the trail. Withdraw sufficient cash in Kathmandu or Lukla before starting the trek.

The best time to Trek to the Base Camp of Mount Everest in 2026
The Trek to Mount Everest Base Camp can be completed at any time of the year. However, there are times when it is considered best to embark on a trekking Mount Everest base camp journey.
Spring (March to May)
Spring is one of the best times for trekking in Nepal. It is a great time to trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. The weather is pleasant during this time of the year, which is not too hot or cold.
The flowers start blooming, making the trail colorful and beautiful. The views of the mountains are also usually clear and stunning. It is comfortable and convenient to trek in the spring. However, the trail can be busy during this time.
Summer/Monsoon (June to August)
Summer brings the monsoon season to the Everest region. It is not the ideal time for trekking because of the challenges and risks it involves. You can expect a lot of rain during this time of the year, which makes the trail muddy and slippery.
The views of the mountains are not visible mostly in summer, as the weather is likely to be cloudy, obstructing the mountain views. However, the landscapes become green and lush, and there are fewer trekkers on the trail.
Autumn (September to November)
Autumn is also one of the best times to trek to Mount Everest Base Camp. The weather is clear and stable, with moderate temperatures during this time of the year.
The skies are usually blue, offering spectacular views of the mountains. It is considered the best time to capture the best sights of the mountains.
Winter (December to February)
Winter is not an ideal time to complete the Mount Everest Trek, as it is a challenging time to trek due to the extreme cold and snow. The temperatures can drop below freezing, and the trail can be covered in snow during this time of the year.
However, if you are well-prepared and have experience trekking in winter conditions, you can expect to have a peaceful time trekking. The views of the snow-covered mountains are breathtakingly beautiful during this time.

When I first stepped onto the trail towards Everest Base Camp, I promised myself I’d savour every moment. The quiet mornings, the endless horizon of peaks, the laughter over warm tea and even the wobbly breathless moments at altitude.
I filmed these daily vlogs as a way of remembering what it actually felt like to be there: the sound of yak bells echoing up the valley, prayer flags fluttering against a sky so sharp it didn’t seem real and the growing sense of “we’re really doing it”.
